Strike On

Yes -- I'm in NYC.

Yes, our transit union is on strike.

Yes -- I haven't yet met a single person in New York who doesn't think that this Union is made up of the MOST SELFISH individuals ever!!!

Walking 85 blocks in 19F (approx -5C) weather just to get to the office isn't anyone's idea of fun. Although good excercise, walking in the cold you must bundle up with twice the amount of clothing simply not to freeze.

May the fines be heafty, the jails be filled and the strike be over as soon as possible so that our city doens't loose any MORE money... the retailers are having a hard enough time without this crap!

Keep your fingers crossed that it ends soon!

Hi Kimberli. We just got back last night from NYC and had a wonderful time - - despite the strike. But you are right about the walking in the cold - - we thought we would freeze, and the most we walked at one time was 20 blocks! I can't imagine 85 blocks!! We survived by determination and hot chocolate. The shows were fab, we saw "The Lion King" and "The Color Purple." What a great city! Merry Christmas.

well, then you haven't met me, because I think the workers had a lot of valid points.

did you know the MTA signed it's new budget BEFORE negotiating with the workers?

Also, if there's money to give 1/2 price rides to patrons, maybe there's money for the workers without them having to strike for it! Afterall, the MTA had huge surpluses, if we want gov't to run like business then when there are surpluses the employees should benefit.

and, yes, i too live in nyc.

love your blog.

Hey pal!

Computer challenged today, couldn't figure out how to email you from here, so commenting instead. Where do you recommend shopping for Betmar hats? Are your warehouses available for retail shopping, or are they just for wholesale shipping? I've looked at Amazon and Sears, where I got Celebration, but I'm looking for specific styles and colors. Any info you could offer is appreciated.

Got my Avon '06 stuff in the mail! Started training this week!
